In this presentation, Rick Propas, sometimes known as The PENguin, will take you through the history of Pelikan with a focus on how to maintain and repair these exquisite, but delicate pens.  Included will be a demonstration of basic maintenance and repairs and repair methods and techniques for more advanced restorations.

A brief history of the Company (1838-2004)

The first Pelikan fountain pen was introduced in 1929

The problem of fillers

Then the piston. Theodor Kovacs sells his patent to Günther Wagner. 

Despite the economic woes Pelikan prospered

With these successes, beginning in 1934 Pelikan expanded.

1937 the 100N simplified the line

At the eve of World War II, Pelikan pens sold all over the world

When Pelikan resumed production after the war, they initially continued           prewar models, minus the 100.

 

As early as 1950 a new model, the 400

the design idiom that marks the top line Pelikans to this day
