Basic Pen Repair Workshop
Duration: 4.5 hours
Objective: Teach or demonstrate basic pen repair techniques for certain filling systems
Workshop size: Limit to 10 participants
Location: Workshop should occur in a room that includes running water and lots of light and trash bins. Extra lamps would be very helpful.
Participants should bring:
Notebook
If Available
Lever filling pen
Button filling pen
Parker 21 or 51,
Sheaffer touchdown filler
Sheaffer snorkel filler
Any pen repair tools they are currently using
Presenters will
provide:
Sacs, diaphragms and gaskets
Gasket insertion tools
Scissors
Pen lights (available for purchase)
Polishing cloths
Teaching pens and any other essential equipment

Button Filler Restoration
Will learn to cut/fit and install sac
Will learn about pressure bars
- Nib Adjustments
Will learn how to determine whether adjustment is required
Will learn basic nib smoothing
- Pen Polishing
Will learn to polish a pen using abrasive papers and polish
- Touchdown Fillers
Will re-sac a touchdown filler and learn special sac requirements and techniques
Will learn O-ring and gasket placement and techniques
- Snorkel Filler Restoration
Will learn special techniques needed for restoring snorkel fillers
- Aerometric Filler Restoration
Will learn techniques for restoring an aerometric filler, such as Parker 21 and 51
- Vacuum Filling Pens—Sheaffer and Parker
Demonstration of techniques and methods
- Fill/flow adjustments—Q/A and demonstration
